Just after the crash still in the dark hours of the morning 6th June 1975.

86-242 was finally extricated from its resting place propping up the station platform canopy and placed in a siding preparatory for removal to Crewe. It is a miracle it survived its ordeal. (Geoff Edmands)
Picture
It is hard to imagine that the loco 86 242 buried in Nuneaton station canopy was recovered and put back into service. Not only this it was totally refurbished and sold to a private railway company FLOYD in Hungary being renumbered by them 450 008. I am very grateful to Greg Ward who took this photo of it on its low loader waiting to leave for Hungary on 6th July 2013 where it was put on display at the Barrow Hill loco depot in Derbyshire. It left for Hungary the next day. (Greg Ward)
